Final Post

I most definitely thought the Google project was a useful project. I really enjoyed having the oppurtunity to set aside time to work on executing my life long dream of recording a song in a rock band. The concept of "independent study" is seldom found in the conventional school environment and I thought it was a really valuable addition to the traditional band curriculum. I would definitely be all for doing a similar project next semester. Next semester, I would like to continue to record as a band, but this time incorporate some more complex musical elements to our songs, and feature the saxophone in addition to guitar, bass, and drums. The best part of this project was seeing how by allotting a little time, some great things can be accomplished- the end result of all of these projects was that people gained a new skill that expanded their musical interests, and I thought that was pretty cool to see.

Finally presented our song

We finally presented our song in class on Tuesday the 13th, it seemed like people liked it. I posted a link to the song on Reddit and here is the link to the YouTube video

I hope you like it!

As Danny stated before we did a overnight recording session. In the morning we decided to scrap everything we had because of how poorly it sounded (and the occasional tempo problem). Our second take was much better as we mic'd the drums and guitars much better

Thanksgiving weekend

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!!

Nick, Jonathon, Mike and I did a major recording session a couple nights back. We got through only half the song though in 24 hours... So I wonder how long the minor... the bridge? outtro?... The MinorBrigdeOuttro will take.

I would just like to say that I am the all time best musical genius ever..FACT. On the flip side, so far (I think) that the song we are going to present is going to go like this.
~Bass Intro Verse x1
~Drums come in x1
~RGuitar comes in x1/2
~Lead comes in w/ intro solo x2, joins in with a different cord x1
 -Drum fill bridge
~chorus, 4 chord progression with lead strumming triplets of each individual note of the chord the rhythm is playing
~ (to be determined drum fill bridge or musical bridge)
~Verse
~Bridge into Chorus again
~Chorus
~Bridge into Outro part 1
~Outro part 1, eventually dies down
~climb into Outro part 2
~Outro part 2, song fades out.

Slightly late post from the google day on the 14th

We had a mildly productive jam on Monday, one of nick's guitar's strings broke just before the Google day and we did not have any drums, but we managed. We are planning to record a video and a recording of us playing one of our songs on Tuesday. We were originally going to do this last Thursday but it just didn't work out for us.

10/28 google day

We had a productive jam session on monday, and we think we may end up using the second song we wrote instead of the first one because it has more of the "indie rock" sound we were looking to create.
